THE CONFESSIONAL: Thya, 25

One night, I met this guy at a roof party. He was really hot and was hysterically funny. He was also pretty confident and seemed to know everyone. When I asked my friends who he was and whether he had a girlfriend, they kind of rolled their eyes at me and told me he probably had more than one. But I didn’t care. I got his number that night and called him the next day. He seemed kind of weird on the phone, asking where he met me, and finally agreed to get coffee, even though I’m sure he had no idea who I was. The date was horrible. He was distracted the whole time and left after an hour. I should have known he wasn’t interested, but I pursued him anyway and tried to be friends. After a while, he had me picking up his laundry and cleaning his apartment, but I didn’t care. I thought he was just making up excuses to be with me. One night, I saw him out with another girl and I lost it. But it wasn’t really his fault. He had told me a couple of times that he wasn’t attracted to me; I just didn’t want to hear it. I’m seeing someone great right now, and even though he’s not drop-dead gorgeous or the funniest person I know, he’s all those things to me.
